Tentative Governing Structure

I. Director of CESMEE
The Director of the Center is responsible for directing the operations of the Center and to ensure that the goals for the Center are being addressed. The Director is responsible for makes decisions with appropriate input from the Coordinating Council. The Director of CESMEE reports to the Dean of the College of Human Sciences.
II. CESMEE Coordinating Council
The CESMEE Coordinating Council will provide ongoing policy direction and financial decisions for CESMEE. Will address logistical issues in addressing mission and objectives of CESMEE and University-wide ownership for CESMEE activities. Will also address communication needs for CESMEE work. The Coordinating Council will meet monthly. The Coordinating Council consists of 16 members who represent the STEM interests in the Colleges of Human Science, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Agriculture. Each Dean of the participating Colleges appoints two representatives to the Coordinating Council. Each member of the Coordinating Council serves a three-year term. Members of the Coordinating Council elect a chair. A representative from the DOE Ames Laboratory is included on the Council. The Chair of the Coordinating Council reports to the Dean of the College of Human Sciences. The College of Human Sciences serves as the host of CESMEE.
III. CESMEE Advisory Board
The CESMEE Advisory Board will provide a broader vision for CESMEE as it relates to needs across Iowa, ISU and nationally/internationally. Membership to include appointments from selected external stakeholders, and possible participation from ISU Foundation. The Advisory Board will meet annually each spring. The Director of the Center and the Chair of the CESMEE Coordinating Council will provide both a written an oral report at the Advisory Board meetings.
